What to Expect

The dense jungle canopy of the Riviera Maya provides a spectacular setting for zip-lining, one of the region's most popular adventure activities. You are harnessed to a cable and fly between platforms mounted high in the trees, gliding over the treetops with views of the jungle below. Some courses include extra features like cenote rappelling, ATVs, or swimming.

Where to Zip-Line

Xplor Park

The largest and most well-known zip-line experience in the Riviera Maya, with 14 zip lines -- some over a kilometer long -- that fly over jungle, above a river, and into cenotes. The park also includes amphibious vehicles and underground river rafting. Admission is all-inclusive (approximately 2,500-4,000 MXN).

Selvatica

An adventure park north of Playa del Carmen with a mix of zip lines, ATVs, cenote swimming, and bungee swings. Known for some of the fastest and longest lines in the area. Approximately 1,500-3,000 MXN.

Xenotes

A Grupo Xcaret park visiting four different cenotes with activities at each, including zip lines, rappelling, kayaking, and cliff jumping. Approximately 2,500-3,500 MXN.

Smaller Operators

Independent zip-line operators along the Ruta de los Cenotes near Puerto Morelos offer shorter courses at lower prices (500-1,200 MXN).

Tips

  • Weight and height limits -- Most operators have minimum and maximum weight requirements. Check before booking.
  • Wear closed-toe shoes -- Required at all parks
  • Secure belongings -- Leave valuables in a locker. Most parks provide lockers.
  • Wear comfortable, secure clothing -- Nothing loose that could catch on equipment
  • Sunscreen and bug spray -- Apply before suiting up in the harness
  • Book online -- Advance online booking typically offers discounts of 10-20% compared to walk-up prices

Cost

  • Major parks (Xplor, Selvatica) -- 1,500-4,000 MXN per person
  • Smaller operators -- 500-1,200 MXN per person
  • Combo packages -- Many operators bundle zip-lining with cenote visits, ATV rides, or snorkeling
