Day by Day
Day 1: Arrival and City Centro

- Evening: Market tour through 20 de Noviembre -- grilled meats in the Pasillo de Humo, fresh chocolate, and tamales
Day 2: Monte Alban and Cooking Class
- Early morning: Monte Alban archaeological site (arrive early for cooler temperatures and fewer crowds)
- Late morning: Return to the city
- Afternoon: Cooking class -- market visit followed by hands-on mole preparation and communal feast
- Evening: Explore the mezcalerias on and around Calle de Macedonia Alcala
Day 3: Valley Day Trip -- Mezcal, Tule, Mitla
- Morning: Drive to El Tule (15 minutes) to see the Arbol del Tule, a Montezuma cypress with one of the largest trunk circumferences of any tree in the world
- Mid-morning: Continue to Mitla archaeological site, known for its intricate geometric stone mosaics
- Lunch: At a roadside restaurant in the valley
- Afternoon: Mezcal tour -- visit 2-3 palenques in Santiago Matatlan, tasting different agave varieties
- Evening: Return to Oaxaca for dinner
Day 4: Hierve el Agua and Textile Villages
- Morning: Day trip to Hierve el Agua -- swim in the natural infinity pools and hike to the petrified waterfall viewpoints
- Lunch: At the site or on the drive back
- Afternoon: Visit Teotitlan del Valle, a Zapotec village renowned for hand-woven rugs using natural dyes. Watch weaving demonstrations and purchase directly from artisans.
- Evening: Back in Oaxaca for a final evening of food and mezcal. Try a restaurant you have been eyeing all week.
Day 5: Markets, Chocolate, and Departure
- Morning: Chocolate workshop -- grind cacao on a metate and make traditional Oaxacan hot chocolate
- Late morning: Final walk through the Benito Juarez market for souvenirs -- mole paste, mezcal, chocolate, and textiles
- Lunch: Memelas and chapulines at a market stall
- Afternoon: Transfer to airport for departure
